Welcome to my website.  Inside you will find the art and images of Savannah resident and artist, Gretta Brannigan. Oil paintings, watercolors and free hand sketches.  Please take a moment to wander thru the pages of art inspired by those that have come before us, that live among us, and for those to follow.  

Music is 90% of what inspires me.  A song has to have an image, in my mind. Or perhaps the music creates an image, colors and shapes.  The rest of what makes me want to paint is to record an event, a moment in time, a long gone relative, or portraits of loved ones still on this earth.

Religion also influences my art. Whether Christian, Buddhist or Jewish, there is a story to be told.

Time passes so quickly in the big scheme of things. ART is our method of recording history and lifestyles thru the centuries. Art is what makes us special and apart from the animal world.

In this moment I want to thank the boy's choir, Libera, in their singing of "Time".  I don't know how I would paint without music such as this to inspire me.  Thank you, Libera. 

Time.
I am the hours
and moments of your yesterday
I am your time gone by
O'er the days and ages fleeting,
Long since passed away
As endless years roll by.

All the centuries and 
Seasons that are still to run

The noon of creation rings
And all in the heavens sing
The glorious song through all eternity.
